Traditional Marketing Techniques: Encourage Word of Mouth
There are a lot of different traditional marketing techniques, but one of the best still leads the pack . . . word of mouth. But word of mouth isn´t something you can affect . . . or is it?
Encouraging word of mouth publicity is actually quite possible and is even quite prevalent online, but you can use similar techniques offline. Basically, you want to give people a good reason to continue passing your name on. Most people will do this anyway when they experience great service, but with a bit of encouragement, they will do it more often and not necessarily wait until someone asks for a reference.
- Get reviews. Encourage clients to review your business online by offering them a discount coupon for doing so.
- Bring a friend. Offer a discount or freebie for referring a friend.
- Make it easy. Give your happy customers a way to tell their friends about you. Give them a pair of gift coupons or fliers to give to people they know.
- Remind them. Bags, receipts, or anything else can have a simple message reminding people to tell their family and friends about you.
- Hold a contest. Contests are always popular and you´re bound to get people talking about your great giveaways and if they win, they`ll really be talking you up!
Traditional marketing can´t be narrowed down to just one thing, but if you want to be really and truly successful, word of mouth advertising is definitely a huge help! Encourage your clients to talk you up if they are happy with your products and service. They just might, and bring you a load of new clients!
