Networking Tips for Small Business
One of the many advantages of having a small business is that you´re able to offer more personalized service. Networking is vital to the growth and success of a small business, but fortunately, it doesn´t have to be as complicated as it sounds! Check out these handy tips for small business networking:
- Talk up your business everywhere you go, the doctor´s office, in line at the bank, etc. You never know who might be a potential client or who might know someone important.
- Take people up on their offers. When someone says, “Oh, I have a cousin who would love to talk to you about your business”, don´t just politely nod and smile. Get the cousin´s phone number or email address. Maybe you´ll be lucky and find your next big client.
- Leave your business cards. Make sure you give everyone you meet your business card, they may be able to pass it on to someone they know who would be interested in your business.
- Be friendly. The old woman who just backed into your car might just have a son who is looking for someone of your talent.
- Advertise yourself. No one wants to hear you go on and on about your small business, so plan ahead. Write down a one line description of your business and use that the next time your pastor asks, “So, what do you do?”
Networking is a very important part of small business and it can really be done anywhere. No opportunity is too small, just make sure you take advantage of every meeting you have, whether formal or on the street. Your business will grow because of it.
